As a general contracting firm on the cusp of transition from a local contractor to East regional competitor in the U.S., J. Kokolakis Contracting sought out a design firm to effectively update their existing brand. After vetting a series of design firms that would honor the original elements that defined their organization's original brand,
J. Kokolakis Contracting chose Peredo & Associates.
When old becomes new
Peredo & Associates had previously been contracted by J. Kokolakis to create a brochure for corporate communications, presentations, and formal bid opportunities. Soon after, J. Kokolakis began engaging conversations for a complete identity overhaul with the vision of having a contemporary look that complemented the second generation of ownership.
Historical identity and values
After agreeing on design parameters in the updated development of the identity, Peredo & Associates began the ideation of typographic logoforms while respecting the history of the foundational elements originally used. Peredo & Associates took into account the environmental applications for the identity as well as its general use for digital media, new corporate brochure, stationary, and other collateral materials.
As a veteran owned company, core values of truth and responsibility for work completed laid the foundation for J. Kokolakis Contracting's growth in the building community. Excellent client service and producing high caliber projects within budget and on schedule created the cornerstone for the brand statement that would represent the organization in the years ahead.
The new identity is simple, unique, translatable and harmonious in all appearances. Foil applications were used in the geometric element referencing the constructive nature of the business while blue, both used as a corporate color that evokes consistency and grounding, also reflects the maritime heritage of the Greek American family. The identity could also be altered in various mediums in two or three-dimensional formats while keeping true to the founded identity essence when applied to all touch-point mediums including business cards, signage, collateral materials, website, proposals, and advertising.
Building at a glance
J. Kokolakis Contracting applied the elements of their new identity to the interior design and the external façade of their two newly opened locations in Bohemia, New York and Tarpon Springs, Florida.
This attractive update has created a historical and traditional look to the brand, inspiring conversations, visions of growth and commitment that has been deeply rooted in a family business kept active for over 42 years.
